Dot painting is a calming hobby where you place dots with a marker on a pre-printed canvas. We turn your photo into a clear pattern of circles. You fill them in one by one, and dot by dot a portrait of your photo appears.
It's easier than you think: you don't need to be able to draw. You simply follow the circles on the canvas. Whether it's your grandchildren, your wedding day or your dog, you turn it into a memory to hang on the wall.
How it works
- Upload your photo — choose a sharp, clear photo for the best result. The more detail in the photo, the better the result.
- Choose your size — not sure? Go bigger. A larger canvas gives more detail and a better end result.
- We check your photo — every photo is personally reviewed before we turn it into a dot pattern. If something isn't right, we'll get in touch with you.
- Receive your kit and start — delivered within 9–12 days. Unpack your kit and start with the first dot.
This is how to turn your photo into a dot portrait
We convert your photo to black and white and translate it into a pattern of circles of varying sizes. Dark areas get many large dots, while light areas get few and small ones. This keeps faces and details clearly recognizable.

Which photo and size should I choose?
Which photo works best? Choose a photo with good light and clear faces. Photos taken in daylight with a calm background work best. Avoid dark, blurry or far-away photos.
Which size? 30x40 cm works well for a portrait of 1 person or a pet. 40x50 cm suits 2 people. For group photos or lots of background detail, we recommend 50x60 cm or larger. Not sure? Go bigger.
Why black and white?
Timeless in black and white — your portrait is made in black and white. This puts the focus on faces and expressions, and it suits any interior. Like a classic black-and-white photo, but made by you.
